Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Carbon Decision AI.

How do I get started with Carbon Decision AI?
Start in three steps: add your Business Partners (at least one supplier and your HQ), log your first emission event in Emission Records, then open the Dashboard to see your live carbon footprint. The Ask AI assistant (bottom-right corner on every page) can answer questions about your data, forecast emissions, and even generate charts at any time.
What can I see on the Dashboard?
The Dashboard is your daily command center: KPI cards for total CO₂e, net footprint (after offsets), total cost and number of records, a monthly emissions trend chart with a date-range filter, your top 3 priority actions from the Decarbonization Plan, and an AI-generated insight highlighting your biggest emission driver.
How does the Analysis page help me understand my emissions?
Analysis breaks your footprint down by GHG scope (1, 2 and 3), by emission source, and by cost, and compares each category against an industry benchmark so you can see where you emit more than your peers. A cost-vs-CO₂ chart highlights the categories that are both expensive and high-emission — your best targets for reduction investment — and AI-generated insights summarize the trends automatically.
What is the Emission Map and how does it work?
The Emission Map plots your Business Partners geographically, with each marker sized and color-coded (green/amber/red) by the CO₂e tied to that partner's records — so you can instantly spot geographic hotspots such as a single high-emission supplier. A partner only appears once its City and Country fields are filled in, and the map shows all partners regardless of any date-range filter used elsewhere.
How does the CO₂ reduction Simulation work?
Simulation lets you model reduction scenarios without committing to real changes, using five levers — Energy, Transport, IT/Cloud, Heating and Products — that you drag to a target reduction percentage while projected CO₂e and net reduction update in real time. Pro and Enterprise plans can save and reload scenarios to compare them or use them to prep management presentations and ESG reports.
How do I generate an ESG report?
The Reports page generates a print-ready PDF from your live data, with KPIs, monthly charts, a sustainability score out of 100, and an 8-point CSRD compliance check covering things like scope coverage, reduction targets and cost tracking. Starter-plan reports carry a watermark; Pro and Enterprise plans get clean, unwatermarked exports.
How do I track my decarbonization actions?
The Decarbonization Plan is your action tracker: add actions with a name, emission category, priority (High/Medium/Low) and estimated CO₂ reduction, and follow them through Proposed, Active, Completed or Cancelled status. Click 'AI Suggestions' to auto-generate recommended actions tailored to your highest-emitting category, and export the full plan to XLSX at any time.
What are Business Partners and why do I need them?
Business Partners are the organizations you exchange emissions with — suppliers, customers, your HQ, warehouses or cloud providers. Every emission record requires a source and a destination partner, which is what powers Scope 3 supply-chain tracking and the Emission Map. Plan limits apply: 5 partners on Starter, 100 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise.
What is an Emission Record and how is CO₂ calculated?
An Emission Record is a single emission event — electricity use, freight, a flight, waste — logged against one of 12 predefined emission sources, each tagged with a GHG scope (1, 2 or 3). CO₂e is calculated automatically using the right formula for that source: a fixed factor per unit, energy × grid factor, embodied material carbon, freight distance × weight × transport mode, or cloud spend × provider factor. Starter plans are limited to 10 records; Pro and Enterprise are unlimited.
Can I bulk import my emissions data?
Yes — on Pro and Enterprise plans you can import a CSV/XLSX file with one row per emission event (date, source, quantity, partners and optional cost), previewing and fixing any errors before confirming. You can also upload a PDF invoice and let OCR extract supplier, amounts and units automatically, suggesting a matching product for manufacturing or freight invoices.
Can I track carbon offset projects?
Yes, on every plan including Starter. Log projects like reforestation or renewable energy with their standard (Gold Standard, Verra, Plan Vivo…), credits purchased and status, and include them as a dedicated table in your PDF report (Pro/Enterprise). Per EU regulation, offsets are tracked for transparency only and never reduce the gross Scope 1/2/3 emissions reported elsewhere.
What can the Ask AI assistant do?
Ask AI is a conversational assistant, powered by Google Gemini, available from every page with full context of your emissions, partners, decarbonization plan and analysis results. Ask things like 'What are my top 3 emission sources this month?' or 'Write a summary of my climate performance for my annual report' and get answers in seconds; conversation history is kept for your current session only.
Can I customize my theme, language and profile?
Yes — Settings let each user choose from 5 color themes (Dark, Light, Forest, Ocean, Slate), a display language (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish), a font (Default, Serif, Mono or Rounded), and an avatar. Theme and language apply instantly, and these preferences are per-user, not per-organization, so each teammate can set their own.
How do I get help if I have an issue?
Open the Support page and create a ticket with a subject, category (Technical, Billing, Data, Feature Request or Other), priority and a detailed message. Response times depend on your plan: best-effort on Starter, within 24 business hours on Pro, and within 4 business hours on Enterprise.
Is there an API to integrate with our ERP?
Yes — Pro and Enterprise plans include a REST API to list, create, update, delete and export emission records, scoped automatically to your organization. Authenticate with a personal API key as a Bearer token (find and regenerate it under Settings → API Access), and explore every endpoint live in the interactive API Explorer.
